Prelude:

The client contacted us because they were experiencing some things they didn’t understand. We were obliged to assist them.

The husband built the house himself using wood and resources from different locations across Alabama. An example of the type of resources that he used was in his office where the floor was covered with a tile that was used to tile the floor of the King Tut exhibit at the Mobile Exploreum.

Each room was made using different resources and had their own individual characteristics. The entire GHOTS team felt a resounding comfort in the house. It was extremely warm, and inviting.

Reported Activity:

The owner reported hearing faint music while lying in the bed late at night. They said that at times it would keep them awake. On one occasion a remote control car followed the owner down the hall and into the kitchen. There were no batteries in the toy, and certainly no one controlling it.

The client also reported that they had a jar of strawberry juice explode in the refrigerator. The jar was turned upside down with the lid still on it. Other occurrences include a DVD/CD surround sound system that turns itself on. Once while the owners were sleeping, the DVD player came on and started playing an old CD which the owner knows for a fact that neither he nor his wife put in the CD player.

In the owners’ office, they have a calculator that will start typing and printing by itself; even when it is turned off. Their dogs will also act timid and not want to walk across the front porch.

One night the owners’ wife didn’t let the dogs into the house like they usually do because the dogs were wet. The wife fell asleep on the couch, and the husband was in the bedroom in the back of the house. During the night the wife woke up to what sounded like dog toenails walking down the hallway into the living room where she was. The wife was a little frightened so didn’t get up to look. In the morning the husband thought the wife had let the dogs in because he heard the tapping down the hall and enter the bedroom and then go back out.

Baseline Readings:
NOAA Planetary K-Index: 1 Kp
NOAA Geomagnetic Field: ~90 nT
*K-indices of 5 or greater indicate storm-level geomagnetic activity.
**Research done thus far shows there is a direct correlation between paranormal activity and the strength of the of the earths geomagnetic field.

EMF readings were constant through the entire evening. Each reading was repeatable and predictable. Prolonged exposure to high EMF readings can cause spooky and uneasy feelings. Due to the levels found throughout the house, there is no concern of problems with EMF saturation.

Electric and Magnetic Field Readings
  • 0 - 2.5 mG ("normal/safe")
  • 2.5 - 7 mG ("above normal/caution")
  • 7 or more mG ("high/dangerous")

Another factor we looked at was resonance frequency of the house. The house itself was compartmentalized in that it was designed with small obstructed sections and no excessively large open spaces. This design breaks up sound reverberation and would make it hard to establish infrasonic frequencies at alpha brain wave levels.

A little about resonance frequencies: "Infrasonic frequencies are felt as vibrations which, if intense enough, may result in feelings of nausea, vertigo, hallucination and eventual black-out or internal hemorrhaging".

Resonant frequency is how many times per second sound travels between a cavity and returns to its starting point. Resonant frequencies for some areas are calculated at an adjusted room temperature of 72 F with the following formula: (1131.743 f/s) / (2 * Cavity Width (in feet)). Note that the 1131.743 feet/second figure is the speed sound travels at in room temperature and frequencies below or near Alpha brain wave (< 13 Hz) are of concern.

Experiential and Observational Analysis:

During the investigation we placed a trigger item on the upper bunk of the bunk bed.  The trigger item was a ball.  The position of the ball was clearly marked and noted.  During the investigation the trigger item moved from its original location.  After reviewing the video tape of the room we noticed that the item moved as an investigator walked near it.  From this, we can only assume that the ball was accidentally bumped.

All the investigators witnessed a 10-key calculator  going off by itself.  We were unable to test theories at the time, but we hypothesize that the 10-key will activate no matter where it is plugged in.  The action of the 10-key is somewhat similar to that of a failing keypad board or a key stuck by dust or debris of some sort.

Two of the sensitive's attending the investigation had feelings that a small girl stayed in the bunk bed room.   One visitor said that she witnessed an image of the girl hiding beneath the bunk.

no other investigators witnessed any type of event or had any curious and questionable sensations.

Conclusion:

All the evidence we collected in video can be duplicated through normal means.  We do, however, leave the data in place for viewing so others can make their own determinations of what it is.  Since the videos can be repeated, we can not call them paranormal, but we can say (since we do not know what the objects are) that they are curious and interesting.

No anomalous quantifiable data was collected with any of our equipment.

Captured were two Class A evp's.  We labeled them Class A's because of the clarity and the fact that they were of a subject matter that pertained to the situation.  We feel the responses were definitely directed toward an object that was present at that particular date and time.

With the exception of the Class A evp, the rest of the data was not impressive.  Due to the lack of hard evidence we can not say that this location is haunted.   While we believe the client is having the experiences he says he is having, we just did not capture anything at that time that would lead us to label the place as having an active haunting.  Paranormal events are unpredictable so we do suggest that more investigations be conducted at the location to further
