| Prelude The term investigator in this report refers to anyone that is a member of the Ghost Hunters of the South paranormal research team. The term attendee in this report refers to anyone at the investigation that is not a member of the Ghost Hunters of the South paranormal research team. Background & Site History The Magazine Street Antique Mall was built back in the early 1800’s as a store for dry goods. It served as a stable and blacksmith for many years. The building itself is approximately 6000 square feet and flanked by antique stores, small galleries, and boutique shopping, the Antique Mall usually has locals gathered around its entrance, not doing much of anything in daylight hours. The building has kept with its traditions and houses over 30 vendors selling everything from marble top dressers to patterned china to objet d'art. Offering great values that may set you back a bit...but are probably worth every penny. Reported Activity Lynda contacted Ghost Hunters of the South because of some of the activity that was happening. Lynda, one of the stores workers, and Cindy, the stores manager, confirm that they had both witnessed paranormal activity and it seems to have gotten a bit more active since construction started in a next door building. Neither Cindy nor Lynda seemed to realize that they had been experiencing similar activity. Lynda reported that a scooter she owns would be moved from its original sitting position. Other vendors have complained that the scooter would be in their way when they arrived to work in the morning. The scooter does not have turning capability nor is it easily pushed in reverse, but it would be found in positions that it could not be easily moved to. Both women have heard dishes clanging and movement (as if moving furniture) in the background when no one was in the building. They would get up to see what the disturbance was and find nothing. On one occurrence, Lynda had brought in a bag of glasses. She placed them on a dresser. As her and a helper was standing there, one of the unwrapped glasses flew from the bag about a foot away, dangled in the air for a few seconds and then dropped to the ground. A similar incidence happened with Cindy where she saw a metal goblet in one of the dealers cubicles fly from a shelf to the other side of the cubicle. Other events include the lights flickering, or going out for no reason and the breakers being okay. People have witnessed a closet door open and close for no apparent reason. Preliminary Findings & Hypothesis No hypothesis or theory was conducted for this investigation as a preliminary walk-through was not conducted. Magazine Street has its history and stories with everything from voodoo rituals to French occupation embattlement and death. The street itself is considered to be a hot bed of paranormal activity due. We went in, taking the stories of the area to heart, and trying to enjoy the paranormal myth of New Orleans. Baseline Readings Data Duration: 33hrs 15min. Outside Humidity: 70% Outside Temp: 74 degrees Climate: Clear LST: 18:05 Electron Flux: 102 >0.6 MeV Planetary K Index: 1Kp (K-indices of 5 or greater indicate storm-level geomagnetic activity.) Geomagnetic: 72nT The building was one huge room with many items at rest and creating barriers. Exact measurements of the building were impossible. Average electric and magnetic field readings ranged from .2mG to .5mG. There were no abnormal spikes in magnetic and electrical field. Any readings that that rose above .5mG were predictable and repeatable. The average temperature in the building was 72 degrees. Of note was one extreme cold sensation. One of the observers explained that she felt a cold spot. The ambient air temperature around the observer was a normal 72 degrees, but tactilely her skin felt much cooler then should have been. An example of the coolness of her skin would be akin to placing an ice cube on the surface of your skin for about 5 minutes. There was not enough control of the surroundings which allowed for attendee’s to roam freely. This resulted in one over zealous attendee to tamper with a stationary audio recorder. In lieu of this, all stationary recording data has been discarded. We must assume that if one stationary recorder had been compromised that they all had been compromised simply because we could not pay attention to the location of the attendee’s 100% of the time. On several occasions the investigators had to remind the attendees to not whisper. Because of this, we must also question the validity of the recorders held by the investigators. All recorder data by held recorders that were carried by investigators have been kept and some interesting anomalies were captured. Although the captures are interesting, they are presented as is and heavy scrutiny should be given while listening. The team did not collect any abnormal temperature, or electric and magnetic field variances. The readings stayed the same throughout the night. The ceiling was roughly 20’ high which made it so we could not pick up on the light fixtures EM field strength, there were also no walls that would have electric wires in them so any anomalous fluctuations would have been easily recognized. While conducting the investigations, one of the attendee’s mentioned that she witnessed a door to a storage closet had moved. We tested the claim by placing a video camera facing toward the door. We physically tried to move the door and saw it could not move by wind and would take a person to physically open or close it. Upon review of the video we found nothing of interest. Resonant Frequency Analysis Resonant frequency readings were impossible to predict and calculate as the amount of standing objects was too great and too irregular. Video and Audio Analysis Video: No video anomalies. Thermal: No thermal anomalies. Audio: Inconclusive, some stationary data was thrown out.
