Background and History

Indigo Skies; a quaint little metaphysics shop that sits on the ocean side in Orange Beach, Alabama is the home to a community of alleged ghosts. The store was originally a set of 3 drive-up 50's motels. Kelly, a sensitive to the paranormal realm and the current business owner of Indigo Skies moved in and noticed multiple presences within the building but didn't think much of it.

The store was supposedly haunted by a man and woman from the 1950-60’s. The woman supposedly drowned in the ocean, and was very distressed that her husband didn’t save her. Later when husband died, it is thought that woman’s spirit was tormenting him and not letting him cross over to the other side. There was also supposedly to be two vortexes or portals, one in the front reading room, and one in the entrance way into the kitchen area. The man supposedly occupied the reading room, while woman was supposedly occupied the back area with the bathroom, entrance way, and library with her walking path coming from the ocean, through the back entrance way and through the library.

A Reiki teacher visiting the establishment channeled a message from “Sam” as an automatic writing. Sam said he wanted to go, but that "she" wouldn't let him go. The “she” Sam was referring to was a ghost by the name of April which wasn’t really her name but rather a preferred name. The automatic writing also showed that April was mad at Sam for some unknown reason. Sam just wants to take April home, but she will not talk with him. Other sensitive’s visiting the establishment have also felt and picked up the presence of April and Sam. People that have seen April and Sam say that their attire suggests that they were possibly from the 60's era. Kelly claimed she had seen April, and she was more of a hippie looking girl, long wavy hair and hippyish shirt.

The Investigation

The investigation this time around was done outside of our normal procedures. We decided to focus more on the ‘energies’ then to focus on our equipment and quantitative data. With this investigation we wanted to examine the possibilities of ‘feeling’ the paranormal realm and any presences that might want to make themselves known to us. Under the guidance Kelly, we focused on what we felt rather than what we saw and measured. Our investigation covered inside the store and the back porch area where the ocean access was located.

Experiential Analysis

Investigator Account #1

While we were there, Kelly and I were in the reading room and I got a huge dull pain in the back of my head, I asked Sam if he was doing that and all of a sudden the room felt electrified. His energy jumped into Kelly and she saw the scene play out. 2-3 guys broke into their room, knocked him in the back of the head with the butt of a gun and drug April to the beach and raped her and left her for dead at the tide line. When Sam woke up the guys were gone as was April. He ran out looking for her and found her on the beach. Already dead and cold; he went back into the motel and shot himself with the gun the men hit him with and had left. That is where his dying comes into play.

After I got Kelly calmed down and she stopped crying, me Kelly and Brandi went into the library to talk to April and tell her what happened and that she had to forgive Sam. When Kelly asked about how these guys came into the picture, I got an image of a fork. I assume that was a symbol for a restaurant. Brandi claimed that the whole time we were telling April what happened, that she was screaming "no, no, no", that she heard her in her head. Brandi has never claimed to be a sensitive or psychic before, and she stated she had never had anything like that happen. I felt April "stomp" out and run to the beach after that.

When we were trying to do automatic writing, I did write NC and drew a Christmas tree. Don't know what significance that would be, possibly they were from North Carolina there for the Christmas holiday?

The store definitely felt heavy for the following week. Kelly was told by a medium (Greybear), that when you open the portal to the 4th dimension (where trapped spirits are) the heavy, dirty energy comes through as a by-product. About a week later it was cleared. Since then, Sam and Aprils energy has been slowly lessening, as of about 2 weeks ago, they appear to be completely gone.

Investigator Account #2

While sitting in the library, it felt like something either blew on my head, or almost like a very light and ticklish kiss. I first questioned it happening during the session. This goes along with the EVP of sounds heard after Diane asked it to happen again on my forehead. At that time, I couldn’t find a reason for it, and dismissed it. It wasn’t until later of reviewing the audio that I found the correlation. Unfortunately, it is not enough to convince me it was actually something touching my forehead. It could have easily been a hair or a breeze.

Investigator Account #3

While Diane and I were standing in the vortex in the kitchen room, trying to feel the vortex, she said she felt something touching her fingers and face. Then she suddenly got very flustered and almost fell over. I tried to catch her and support her asking if she was alright. She appeared very flushed and dizzy, so I asked her if she wanted to go outside to get some air. She said yes, so we went outside.

Investigator Account #4

While sitting in the reading room me and Bruce were talking when a spike occurred on my EMF meter. I got up and got another spike on my EMF meter. I was able to track the high EMF as it moved through the room seemingly to get away from me. The height of the field was about 5 foot 9 inches. It was oblong in shape and completely measurable and traceable. The field stopped at the door where Bruce and I felt a cold spot. The field dissipated after about 60 seconds and was no longer picked up by the EMF detector.


Conclusion

Well, what can one say? We all did ‘feel’ an energy in the place which allowed us to stay an enormously long time. The atmosphere was comforting and very positive. The store itself had an aroma that was extremely soothing. Time flew by during the investigation and before we knew it, the sun was coming up and it was time for us to go. It was a nice change of pace for the GHOTS team. There were a lot of experiences during the investigation. If we went on experiences alone then we could conclude the place had a strong paranormal presence.
