During our investigation at the Tutwiler Library in North Alabama we had an experience in a room with an old cast iron stapler. In the setting, we had people sitting in the chairs listening i the dark for anything anomalous. A few things transpired but nothing worth mentioning.
As everyone left, I panned the FLIR around the room because I thought it was cool that everyones seats had their heated butt prints in the chairs. Yeah, it's the simplest things that bring joy. As the FLIR was panned it was noticed that the stapler was heated.
In order for the cast iron stapler to be heated as it was, someone would have had to stand with their hand on it for a long time and then the heat would quickly fade. As you view the video, you can see that the handle actually gets hotter. Some have said that this was a reflection of our body heat, but you will notice that when the hand goes to touch the handle, there is no reflection of his hand.
Could a team member have grabbed it for a long time? It could be possible, but none of the members were seen touching it, and none remember hanging off it. Would the handle maintain the heat level as it does int he video? No, cast iron heat would dissipate very quickly and be very noticeable.
