The video to the right is not affiliated with Ghost Hunters of the South. It is an example of a surveillance dvr system by another paranormal group.
Most established paranormal investigation groups use surveillance dvr systems to monitor their investigation area. Ghost Hunters of the South believes they are an essential tool for any group to cover areas that can't be covered continuously by investigators.
Most dvr systems can record up to 120 hours of footage or more! Since an investigation can last a couple of days, this proves to be beneficial.
When looking for cameras in a dvr system, you want to ensure they have 0 lux capability (able to see in the infrared spectrum) and have a strong set of ir leds. The more led's the further the ir light will travel and a wider range within the area that the cameras will be able to cover.
Next, ensure that the dvr can handle at least 26 frames per second (fps) per camera. A lot of dvr cards say 28 or 36 fps, but that is combined, so if you have a 4 channel dvr card 26 fps would be split across the camera channels. The cameras are also measured in lines. The more lines a camera has, the better quality the image will be. You want to ensure the line count is during night shot spectrum.
