One of the most basic tools for a paranormal investigation is a good camcorder. An investigation without a camcorder for a paranormal investigator would be hell. Paranormal investigators use camcorders to log, and record their actions during investigations, and they tend to leave camcorders recording in assumed paranormal hot spots. The recordings can then be viewed later on a personal computer.
A standard camcorder can only see in the dark with a light, but some camcorders have built in night shot mode that allows them to record in absolute darkness; also termed 0 lux. In night shot mode a camcorder is a great tool for recording light anomalies and other strange events that happen during a pitch black investigation that would normally be missed by an investigator. Investigators value camcorders with night vision as the good tool for capturing apparitions and moving objects that would often times be missed. They are a valuable way for logging and journalling the events as they unfold during an investigation.
